Besides being real attention-getters, interactive IGs are highly educational and guarantee more viewing time. The genre is relatively new (it has only grown as technology to support it has grown) but promises to herald in a rash of new graphic designs, depth of subject matter and data movement. Can’t wait!

IMAGEre: Year of the Dragon

The Chinese New Year is January 23, 2012 and it will welcome in the Year of the Dragon, the mightiest of the Chinese astrological signs. According to Chinese myth, the year of the Dragon will be filled with drama, excitement, change and flux. The Dragon harkens from the Han Dynasty and is less about breathing fire as in the Western manifestations and more about a symbol of strength and passion.

The dragon is an important historical and cultural figure in China. It is illegal to deface the image of a dragon in China. The image of the dragon is so ancient, that the modern word for dragon in Chinese is “dinosaur”.

So, Happy Chinese New Year everyone. And remember, without the dragon, we wouldn’t see half as many tattoos and they would all be of Celtic knots.
